Arum Chine Guesthouse

Belinda and Denzil Flanagan opened Arum Chine Guesthouse in 1998, and it has always been known for its warmth and friendliness. Hilbert and Myrtle Werner, Belinda’s parents, were a botanist and a descendent of explorer John Speke. The guesthouse is named after them and shows their love of nature and exploration. “Arum” means “beautiful flower,” and “Chine” (an Old English word for a gorge) stands for the peaceful respite we provide. We now follow this tradition today, with new management, by offering a quiet place to stay near Nahoon Beach, golf courses, and retail malls.

Room Rates & Options

Single Occupancy: R775 per night (breakfast included) or R700 per night (breakfast not included).
Sharing/Double: R1050 per night, breakfast included, or R900 without breakfast.
All prices include access to our top-notch facilities, daily cleaning (except on public holidays), and a strict no-smoking policy in bedrooms and eating areas to make guests more comfortable.

Comforts in the Room

Guests get free WiFi, a Hotel DSTV package with movie, sports, and foreign channels, and laundry services (including ironing, Monday through Friday). Our generator makes sure you have the electricity you need so you can rest without interruption during load shedding.

Spaces for Everyone

For a real South African experience, relax at our honesty bar, swim in the pool or meet up in the braai (BBQ) area. Our shared spaces are great for both mingling and being alone.

Eating at Arum Chine

Enjoy a big breakfast as part of your accommodation to start your day. We provide home-cooked meals for supper (R150, dessert included) on request, but you have to order by 10 a.m. Day travellers might get a handy lunch pack (R65) to take with them.
