Profile
Humansdorp Hotel, was opened in 1858 during the Great Trek, is a beloved landmark that perfectly combines old-world elegance with contemporary luxury. Originally built with Oregon wood planks that still adorn our ladies’ bar today, we’ve carefully conserved our history while updating our facilities to match modern standards. Over the years, we’ve changed from a place for tourists to stop to a full-service 3-star hotel, but we still feel very close to our beginnings in this lively village in the Eastern Cape.
Lodging: Old-Fashioned Charm with Modern Comfort
Room Types for All Types of Travellers
Our 20 carefully restored rooms meet a wide range of demands without losing their charm:
Regular Rooms
Large retreats with either king or twin beds and fabrics that are influenced by the area. Business travellers may use the work stations in these rooms, and the big windows let in a lot of natural light.
Cheap Rooms
Small yet comfortable choices that are great for budget-conscious visitors. They have the same high-quality linens and amenities as our regular rooms, but they take up less space.
Rooms for Groups
Family-friendly setups that can sleep up to four people, with soundproof walls and separate sleeping rooms for seclusion. Great for sports teams on tour or groups of people from different generations travelling together.
Common Features in All Rooms
Every accommodation includes:
- Quiet, energy-efficient air conditioning
- A microwave and a small fridge for guests’ comfort
- High-speed WiFi and DSTV Premium channels
- Options that are wheelchair-accessible and have roll-in showers
- Original cornices and other historical architectural characteristics
Eating and relaxing
Bar and Gaming Room
There are 40 gaming machines and weekly events in our sports bar, which is always busy. The ladies’ bar next door has a more laid-back vibe, and customers may drink homemade cocktails while looking at the building’s original woodwork from 1858.
Eating Out
We don’t run a complete restaurant, but our kitchen makes substantial pub dinners and breakfast baskets. Many visitors like our “Bed & Breakfast” option, which includes farm-style breakfast food brought to their rooms.
Facilities Made for Connection
We provide more than just a place to stay:
- The Amanda Kruger Hall (120 people) with an outdoor patio
- Secure parking with 24-hour security
- A business facility with printing services
- A courtyard with native plants that gets a lot of sun
Discover the Eastern Cape
We’re in the perfect spot between Port Elizabeth (55 km) and Jeffreys Bay (25 km), making us a great place to start your explorations:
- Surfing places that are known all across the world
- The canals and beaches of St. Francis Bay
- Fun things to do in Tsitsikamma
- Wine routes and farm booths in the area
Our concierge can help you with everything from setting up golf tee appointments to taking you on guided tours of the area.
Dedicated to Our Community
As caretakers of this historic site, we use eco-friendly methods including:
- Solar water heating systems
- Working with local artisans to provide furniture for the rooms
- Staff training programs to help the community grow
We’re proud to be more than simply a hotel; we’re a part of Humansdorp’s ongoing narrative.
