About Potchefstroom
Potchefstroom is located in South Africa’s North West province, approximately 120km southwest of Johannesburg along the banks of the Mooi River. This historic town sits at an elevation of 1,350 metres on the Highveld plateau, enjoying a temperate climate with warm summers and cool, dry winters typical of the region.
Founded in 1838 as one of the first Voortrekker settlements, Potchefstroom blends its rich cultural heritage with modern academic energy as home to North-West University.
