Our Hippo Inn Tale

The Hippo Inn, which is owned and operated by Jan and Gina Viljoen, has been a shining example of Zululand hospitality ever since it first opened its doors. This guesthouse is located in Meerensee, a beachfront neighbourhood. It was built to provide travellers a pleasant place to stay while they explore Richards Bay’s diverse wildlife and exciting surroundings. Hippo Inn has been a popular option for both business and leisure tourists over the years because of its great location and individualised service.

Rooms at Hippo Inn

Our seven double rooms are made for comfort and ease. They include double or three-quarter beds, private bathrooms with showers and plenty of cupboard space. There is air conditioning, a TV with MNet, a fridge, and a place to make tea or coffee in each room. We provide special work areas with power outlets for laptops for those who want to work while they travel.

Units with Their Own Kitchens

Our two self-catering flats are great for families or those who want to stay for a long time, as they offer privacy and flexibility. These completely furnished rooms include a kitchen with a cooker, fridge-freezer, pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. Each flat has its own bathroom, a TV with DSTv, and is cleaned every day so you don’t have to worry about it.

Every guest may use our peaceful lapa area and swimming pool, which is great for relaxing on a hot day, no matter whether they choose bed-and-breakfast, bed-only, or self-catering. You may also request laundry services for added convenience.

Eating and Relaxing

In our cosy dining room, you may enjoy a full English or continental breakfast to start your day. You can either choose a convenient packed meal for lunch or request a supper tailored to your tastes. Though we don’t have a spa on-site, our peaceful poolside setting and entertainment lapa give you plenty of chances to unwind.
