About Komani

Komani is a historic town situated in the Eastern Cape’s foothills, approximately 170km northwest of East London. Renamed in 2016 to honour local heritage (though still widely known as Queenstown), this regional centre was established in 1853 as a military outpost during the Frontier Wars.

Surrounded by seven hills and the Komani River valley, the town offers visitors a glimpse into 19th century colonial history while serving as an important service hub for the surrounding farming communities.
