About Tzaneen

Tzaneen is a thriving agricultural town located in the Letaba District of Limpopo. Situated about 130km east of Polokwane, this verdant settlement lies at the foot of the northern Drakensberg escarpment. The town was established in 1919 as a forestry station and has grown into the commercial hub of the region known for its fruit production and tea estates.

The area enjoys a subtropical climate with hot, wet summers and mild winters. Tzaneen’s landscape is characterised by lush vegetation, plantations and the Great Letaba River which flows nearby. The town serves as a gateway to several nature reserves and the scenic Magoebaskloof pass, while maintaining its distinctive small-town charm.
