About Us
Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary offers a unique wildlife experience located in Hartbeespoort. This privately owned, non-subsidised sanctuary spans approximately 7 hectares and is one of only eight free-release primate sanctuaries globally.
It provides a natural environment where monkeys can live freely, rescued from the pet trade or unsuitable homes.
Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary is situated alongside the Elephant Sanctuary. The sanctuary specialises in rehabilitating primates such as squirrel, spider, and capuchin monkeys, offering them a wild environment with waterfalls, lush vegetation, and natural mountain springs.
Our Mission and Education
Our goal is to provide primates with the opportunity to live as they would in the wild. We place a strong emphasis on community education, ensuring that every tour is informative and raises awareness about why monkeys do not make suitable pets. Guests leave with a deeper understanding of primate welfare and conservation.
