About Us
Huntshoek Game Lodges started as a place for people to get away from it all in nature. Now it is one of the best places to visit in the Eastern Cape. Our lodges are high up on the banks of the Great Fish River, where rough wildness meets exquisite luxury. Huntshoek has come a long way since it was only a little hideaway. Now, it offers both fully catered and self-catering rooms. The company is still committed to conserving the wild beauty of the Frontier countryside while providing great service.
Accommodation: Customised Getaways for Every Traveler
Huntshoek Lodge: All-Inclusive Luxury
Our main lodge has four beautifully furnished chalets that enable you get close to nature without giving up luxury. Each chalet has:
- Private terraces with views of the Great Fish River Valley that go on forever
- Outdoor showers that wake you up and sunken bathtubs that are quite nice
- Nice touches like coffee and tea stations and small bar fridges
The two lounge rooms and the public infinity pool are great places to unwind or hang out with friends. The lodge can fit up to eight persons, and if you need more room, you can stay in our Hunters chalet. It’s great for small parties or romantic getaways.
Huntsdrift: Freedom to Cook for Yourself
Our self-catering chalets are great for anyone who want to be on their own since they offer:
- Small kitchens that are fully stocked with culinary tools
- The Wildebeest Chalet has an outdoor bathing experience that is one of a kind
- The decks are big enough for braais under the stars
The Gymnogene Mew Chalet has great views of the mountains and rivers, while the poolside Impala Chalet is close to our shared swimming area.
Rockdell Lodge: A Private Group Getaway
Our premium alternative in Stutterheim offers a private environment for up to eight people, with private amenities and personalised service for those who want to be alone.
Eating and Health
Our fully catered option at Huntshoek Lodge lets you try local foods for breakfast and supper, such as biltong and artisanal cheeses. We don’t have a real spa, but the lodge itself is a health retreat. The rhythm of the bush and the views of the infinity pool’s horizon are good for tired spirits.
Places Made for Connection
Every stay is better with these key amenities:
- An infinity pool that blends in with the view of the river valley
- Shared lounge spaces that encourage connection
- Mini-conference rooms for work getaways
- Wi-Fi that works well in some places
What Makes Huntshoek Different
We’re just 43 kilometres from Grahamstown/Makanda, yet we’re far enough away from the noise and bustle of the city to feel like you’re in a different universe. The resort is a safe place for native animals including giraffes, kudus, and nyalas. You may see them on your own terrace at any time. We don’t put a lot of weight on official sustainability awards, but we do respect the fragile balance of this environment.
Huntshoek Game Lodges not only gives a place to stay, but also a chance to reconnect with nature’s ageless rhythms. You may take pictures of birds at sunrise, look at the stars from your balcony, or just breathe in the fresh air of the bush.
