About Wakkerstroom

Wakkerstroom is a picturesque town located in southern Mpumalanga, approximately 250km southeast of Johannesburg. Situated at 1,800 meters above sea level in one of South Africa’s most important grassland biomes, this charming destination is surrounded by rolling hills, wetlands and pristine natural landscapes.

The area experiences cool summers and cold winters with occasional snowfall. Wakkerstroom’s landscape features vast open grasslands, rare wetlands and the headwaters of several rivers.
