About Port Nolloth
Port Nolloth is located on South Africa’s northwestern coast in the Northern Cape province, approximately 140km northwest of Springbok. This small harbour town sits on the windswept shores of the Atlantic Ocean within the arid Diamond Coast region, characterised by its rocky shoreline, desert landscapes and cold Benguela Current waters.
Established in 1854 as a port for copper exports, Port Nolloth developed into a fishing and diamond mining centre. The town experiences a mild desert climate with cool temperatures year-round due to the cold ocean current, frequent coastal fog, and minimal rainfall. Its remote location and rugged natural beauty create an atmosphere of peaceful isolation, attracting visitors seeking an authentic coastal experience away from tourist crowds.
