About Upington

Upington is a thriving oasis town located along the Orange River in Northern Cape, approximately 800km southwest of Johannesburg. Situated in the heart of the Green Kalahari region, this important agricultural center enjoys a lush riverine setting surrounded by arid desert landscapes.

The area experiences extreme temperatures with scorching summers and mild winters typical of the Kalahari Desert. Upington’s landscape features date palm plantations, vineyards and the broad Orange River contrasting dramatically with the surrounding red dunes.
