Visit Germiston

About Germiston

Germiston, located just 10km east of Johannesburg in Gauteng’s Ekurhuleni Metro, was founded during the 1886 gold rush as a mining camp. Today it’s a vital commercial hub known for its gold refinery (the largest in the world) and excellent transport links.

Despite its industrial character, Germiston surprises with green oases like Victoria Lake and the Germiston Lake Nature Reserve, offering respite from urban bustle while maintaining quick access to O.R. Tambo International Airport.
