About Mtubatuba

Mtubatuba is a bustling town located in northern KwaZulu-Natal, approximately 250km northeast of Durban. Situated near the eastern shores of Lake St Lucia, this important service centre provides access to the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area features lush subtropical vegetation, with the uMfolozi River flowing nearby and the Indian Ocean just 30km to the east.

Positioned along the N2 highway, Mtubatuba serves as the main urban hub for the surrounding rural communities and wildlife reserves. The town enjoys hot, humid summers and mild winters typical of Zululand’s coastal plain, with occasional afternoon thunderstorms during the rainy season. Its strategic location makes it an ideal base for exploring northern KwaZulu-Natal’s exceptional biodiversity.
