About Umzimkulu

Umzimkulu is a beautiful rural town located in southern KwaZulu-Natal, approximately 150km southwest of Durban. Situated in the foothills of the southern Drakensberg mountains near the border with Eastern Cape province, this tranquil settlement lies along the banks of the Umzimkulu River from which it takes its name.

The area experiences cool winters with occasional snowfall in higher areas and warm summers with afternoon thunderstorms. Umzimkulu’s landscape is characterized by rolling green hills, deep river valleys and dramatic mountain backdrops. The town serves as an important service centre for the surrounding rural communities while maintaining its peaceful, small-town atmosphere.
