About Ulundi

Ulundi is a historically significant town located in northern KwaZulu-Natal, approximately 250km northeast of Durban. Situated along the White Umfolozi River, this former capital of the Zulu Kingdom serves as an important cultural and administrative center for the Zulu people. The town lies within the Zululand District Municipality, surrounded by the rolling hills and savanna landscapes characteristic of this region.

The area experiences hot summers and mild winters typical of KwaZulu-Natal‘s inland regions. Ulundi’s landscape features important historical sites, government buildings, and traditional Zulu homesteads.
