Port Edward is located in southern KwaZulu-Natal, approximately 170km south of Durban near the Eastern Cape border. This picturesque coastal town marks the northern starting point of South Africa‘s Wild Coast, where the subtropical climate of KwaZulu-Natal meets the rugged beauty of the Eastern Cape shoreline. Situated at the mouth of the Mtamvuna River, Port Edward enjoys year-round mild temperatures with warm, humid summers and pleasant winters.

Founded in 1925 as a holiday resort, Port Edward has maintained its relaxed seaside character while developing excellent tourism facilities. The area features dramatic coastal cliffs, golden beaches, and the scenic Mtamvuna River Gorge, creating diverse landscapes within a compact area. Its strategic position along the N2 highway makes it easily accessible while preserving a tranquil atmosphere away from urban crowds.
