About Sodwana Bay

Sodwana Bay is located on the northern coast of KwaZulu-Natal, approximately 400km northeast of Durban within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. This remote diving paradise sits at sea level, bordered by lush coastal forests and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean that host the southernmost coral reefs in Africa. The area enjoys a subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters ideal for year-round diving.

Renowned as one of the world’s top diving destinations, Sodwana Bay features spectacular reef systems just offshore in the protected marine reserve. The landscape combines pristine beaches with coastal dunes and swamp forests that form part of the unique iSimangaliso ecosystem. Sodwana’s relatively remote location along sandy access roads helps preserve its unspoilt character while attracting diving enthusiasts from around the globe.
