About Riebeek-Kasteel

Riebeek-Kasteel is located in the Western Cape‘s Swartland region, approximately 85km northeast of Cape Town. This historic town sits lies in the fertile Riebeek Valley, surrounded by rolling wheat fields and olive groves with the dramatic Kasteelberg mountain as its backdrop.

Founded in 1661, Riebeek-Kasteel is one of South Africa’s oldest towns, boasting well-preserved Cape Dutch architecture and oak-lined streets. The landscape combines working farms with boutique wineries, artist studios and charming village life. Riebeek-Kasteel’s position along the R46 route makes it easily accessible while maintaining its peaceful rural character amidst the Swartland’s golden wheat fields and vineyards.
