The Whaling Station Lagoon Lodge has been a favourite getaway for tourists along South Africa’s Garden Route who want luxury, beauty, and adventure since it opened. Our resort, set inside the private Goose Valley Golf Estate, marries contemporary comfort with the natural grandeur of Plettenberg Bay. The Whaling Station’s suites are all meant to be peaceful getaways that mix modern flair with the comfort of home. Pick from our carefully chosen rooms, each with its own special charm.

Family Suites: Big and welcoming

Our five Family Suites are great for families or parties. They are named after nearby beaches: The Sanctuary, Robberg, Hobie, Lookout, and Keurbooms. Each suite has a king-sized bed in the main room and two single beds in a separate section. The shared bathroom contains both a bath and shower, while the tea-and-coffee station guarantees a warm start to each day. These cottage-style rooms are affordable and provide enough space for up to four people.

Double and Twin Suites: Cosy and Beautiful

Our three Double (Twin) Suites-Formosa, Poortjies, and Natures Valley-have views of the Keurbooms Lagoon that never stop. They are great for couples or those travelling alone. Every 25 m square room has its own door, satellite TV, and a bathroom with a shower. The private terrace is a great place to have coffee in the morning while listening to birds sing.

Premium Amenities for Your Comfort

All of the suites include extra-long mattresses, satellite TV, wardrobes, and hair dryers. You may choose between a Family Suite and a Double. Both provide quiet areas where you can rest after a day of exploration.

Eating and relaxing

Breakfast isn’t offered on-site, but the Verandah Clubhouse, which is just 800 metres away, has great food in a laid-back environment. Hire a private chef to cook for you in your room as a special treat. Order a selection of local wines ahead of time to make your stay even better, or treat yourself at our on-site beauty salon and hair salon.
