The Royal Hotel Knysna

The Royal Hotel Knysna has a long history that goes back to the 1800s. It started out as St. George’s Tavern and got its royal name after entertaining royalty in 1867. This famous building, created by well-known architects, opened in 1939 and has since been carefully renovated to combine its colonial elegance with modern amenities. Our historic property is now proudly located at the corner of Main and Queen Streets – a living example of Knysna’s rich cultural history.
